A Lifetime of Waiting

Sanjukta Ghoshal posted under PenMuse-24 Poetry on 2020-11-22

Sleep eludes me tonight As I yearn for that smell Of love and your sweat,  In the folds of your drape. How I wish for the touch Of your hand, worn and frayed, That once lulled me to sleep, As it caressed my head! Those jibes and queries, Your unwanted advice, I crave once more the reproaches- Your blessings in disguise. Your silence, now, is stifling; And I pray, with moist eyes, To be held in your arms, Maa, Once more, in next life.
