A New Day
The sun gave colour
to the obscure night sky and
banished the dark gloom
I opened my eyes and saw
a soft light through the curtains
A song came alive
It was the birds tweeting loud
in a quest for love
My heart found its music in
embrace of my beloved
The wind made a noise
Yawns of slumber were broken
Sea waves touched the shore
to wash away leftover
shreds of pessimism in time
Dawn of contentment
emerged as I stood by a
half open window
to welcome another day
with a renewed optimism
