Amitav Ghost, the name drew me in! And so did the really intriguing book blurb. Priyakshee, our protagonist, a skilful software engineer, is blessed (or not!) with the ability to see prophetic dreams. She writes them down in a digital diary, which she calls DJ, short for Dream Journal, although she also records her day to day life in the journal as well. It is through her journal that the story progresses.

With literally no life beyond work, Priyakshee's prophetic dreams sway between her workplace and fantasy, which is where she finds her dead mother, and other mythological characters, like AV, who's apparently looking out for her. Trouble starts when the two worlds collide and intertwine. Who's AV? Is he a ghost? Is he even a separate entity? Or a figment of Priyakshee's imagination, a product of her Schizophrenia? Does he have anything to do with Priyakshee's disappearance? To find out, you've got to read this book.

The story is set in a premise that's not new, and yet, there's novelty in the plot that's replete with references from Norse mythology. The research that has gone behind this is praiseworthy, and the writer has painted a vivid picture from the POV of our protagonist, breaking down everything to keep the readers in loop. She has also managed to sequence the events and tie up the loose ends in a way that keeps the reader hooked till the end.

What I would have liked here... Thorough editing. The language could have been improved. It did mar the reading experience quite a bit. I felt disheartened a few times while reading just because of the misplaced articles, odd prepositions... But I kept coming back, because the plot was irresistible.

Otherwise, an engaging read. Kudos to the writer for bringing out a complex plot replete with its twists and turns, successfully.
