Harvest of Dreams
Scorched by the sun, the land lay dry,
Searing heat did pierce the air.
Summer's here, not a cloud in the sky,
Sun shining on without a care.
Careworn farmers for rain they pray,
Crushed hopes, the sky remains clear.
Clearly a drought is on the way,
Crying babies, their mothers' nerves fray.
Aghast at their plight, the gods were kind,
Arrived dark clouds, in the sky one night.
Abundant rain fell, leaving heat behind,
Awakened farmers, rejoiced at the sight.
Green stood the fields, so pleasing to the eye,
Grains harvested was a bounty that year!
Grateful the farmers looked up at the sky.
Gone were their worries, time to cheer!
