Illumination

I first gazed at the sun Many eons ago. The light Has blinded my eyes And all I have seen afterwards Is love pouring from the sky. You ask me from whence Does this rain fall In yellow radiance  Of dandelion dawns Dancing in distant meadows Full of tropical splendor? I cannot answer you Though I know the truth- For my eyes have lost Their sight of the things That don’t matter, of the whys And the wheres, and the whatnots And all that is left in me Is sunshine, warm and bright, Spilling from the heavens Into the brown terrestrial  Mass of the wandering earth You cradle in your restless heart. ____
