My Empty Womb

Sheela Iyer posted under PenMuse-39 Poetry on 2022-03-21

My restless and throbbing heart sobbed and wept,
When stress of infertility gripped me.
Tears rolled down the cheek like an open dam
Far away from peace, my eyes never slept.

The sobbing womb grumbled, couldn't accept
And kept my anxious mind awake and grilled.
A wave of sadness entered inside me
My restless and throbbing heart sobbed and wept,

My womb stayed empty, promises un-kept
No little kicks, neither any stretch marks.
A soul I carried in my arms never,
Far away from peace, my eyes never slept.

My restless and throbbing heart sobbed and wept,
I found no solace nor a solution.
Far away from peace, my eyes never slept.
