My Special Birthday

As I was carefully making a present for my sister, I thought about the special birthday present she had given me the year before.

It had been a few weeks before my tenth birthday, and my sister was making a present for me. I already knew what it was going to be, but that didn’t make it any less exciting. I had told her that I wanted a place to work on my art for a while now, so after a few days, she told me that she was going to make me an art studio. She said that she would place it in our small closet, and every day, she would go there and work on it. She put a lot of time into it, and very soon it was almost done.

“Your art studio is almost done and there is a bulletin board and a desk and everything,” she had told me with a smile. “I even painted it for you, but you can’t look yet.”

I couldn't wait to see it. I had always wanted something like this, and now I would finally get it. I was excited to see how my sister had designed it. A few weeks passed and soon it was my birthday. Everyone said happy birthday to me, and I got many nice things. When evening came, I got to eat cake, and everyone sang happy birthday. Then the time came to open my presents, and I got a lot of things. I even got a brand new art set.

“Come see your art studio now.” My sister said happily and smiled at me. I jumped up and ran to the room that we shared. I couldn’t contain my excitement! I ran into the closet, and turned around. Then I saw, the walls were painted, the desk was painted, and there was a shelf with pens, markers, crayons, and pencils. There was a bulletin board in front of me, and my name was on the wall. The drawers had paint, rubber bands, index cards, and paint brushes. The bottom drawer even had a foot rest. There were posters all around. I was so happy! I thanked my sister a thousand times. “Thank you, this is the best present I have ever gotten. You are the best!”

She had taken so much time to make the art studio. She had even made a floor plan for it and  she had alway wanted to become an architect. It looked absolutely professional and I was very thankful. She also left some of the studio for me to design, which I painted the very next day.

I will never forget the time that she put into making a present for me, and it will always be an amazing memory.
