New York Diaries
The teeming city that never slept,
And talked nineteen to the dozen,
The Statue of Liberty which enticed many,
To it’s perennial bosom,
Central Park, where joggers jogged,
And families thronged to piece together their frayed nerves,
Manhattan -the heart that was oh so large,
The twinkling nights of the dazzling Times Square,
That held many a secret in it’s frame,
The cheerful laughter, gaiety and musical bands,
Trucks overloaded with delicacies of all kinds,
The intersected roads where crowds would just walk and walk,
Rushing to their homes and offices,
Pray! Where did they all vanish now ?
New York bleeds and bleeds like never before,
My heavy heart sighs as I look at this alarming ghost town,
Empty and vacant as a dead man’s stark eyes!
