Only Words

Oh but they’re only words, so how do they sting? Scarring souls and cleaving wing Hatred spewed stays carved in stone Like tentacles vile stripping one to bone and leaving but nary a thing!  Yet they soothe and calm and lullabies sing And caress so tender that tears they bring They tickle, they cajole, they reveal wonders unknown Oh but they’re only words! A tool for bards scribing winter to spring Rewriting history when hewn in a string In prayer they flow to sins atone Uttered in ecstasy, make a lover moan Such power to destroy or preserve everything Oh but they’re only words…   Penmancy gets a small share of every purchase you make through these links, and every little helps us continue bringing you the reads you love!
