Then and Now
When for the first time, I tumbled
It was you who comforted me
And advised me to wear the bruises
Like a warrior, proud and strong.
It was you who assured me
That I wasn’t a loser, at all
No matter what numbers I earned
You never questioned like the rest.
Each time I ended up confused
And looked up to you for advise
Like a friend sensible, you guided
My aptitude, you didn’t doubt.
‘twas you who showered me
With words of encouragement
That helped me to get up, stronger
After every catastrophic fall.
Dear Self!
My friend, philosopher and guide
It has always been you
Be it then, or now.
