Two of Us in Here

There are two of us in here Locked in a perpetually futile scuffle About who should be having her way- Horns maybe? Or perhaps the halo tonight! Devi- the goddess, when I adorn a saree, With a smile that hides the pain and tears- Devil, when the low-cut flashes my bare back, And blood-red lips that laugh in wanton delight! Ah you forget! The devil disguises well, my dear! One unwarranted touch and that angel-face can kill. Oh! you may scorn the promiscuous devil’s spear, And yet, be smitten with her kindness on a good day! I’ll tell you, there are two of us in here- One salves your wounds, and the other makes you pay!
