Prompt:
Chanso
Chanso is French in origin consisting of five or six stanzas with an envoy that is roughly half the size of a regular stanza. A regular stanza is a poet’s choice. It can be a tercet, a quatrain, a quintain, a 6- or 10-line stanza, etc. So, if the poet chooses a quatrain as their regular stanza, the envoy will be half its size (two lines for a quatrain since it is a 4-line verse). Also, Chanso form follows the following rules:
~each line of the poem has the same number of syllables
~each stanza has the same length and rhyme scheme, which means that if the poet chooses 6 syllables per line, and the stanza follows the abba rhyme scheme, ALL five or six stanzas will have the same syllable count/line and the same rhyme scheme.
~the envoy will be half
